At Emerge Training, the CHC50125 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care is designed to build on your existing skills and knowledge, preparing you for advanced roles in the early childhood education and care sector. The qualification comprises 15 units of competency and is delivered through a flexible learning approach, supported by experienced trainers and a professional, learner-focused environment.
This qualification reflects the role of educators in regulated children’s education and care services in Australia. At this level, educators design and implement curriculum that meets the requirements of an approved learning framework, support compliance with National Quality Framework (NQF) requirements, and apply specialised knowledge to diverse workplace situations. They may also supervise volunteers or other educators.
Entry Requirements
Entry into the CHC50125 Diploma is open to individuals who meet one of the following criteria:
- Option 1: Hold a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (CHC30125, CHC30121 or CHC30113).
- Option 2: Hold an Australian Certificate III in Children’s Services AND have at least 12 months cumulative employment within the last 5 years in a regulated service.
- Option 3: Hold Skill Set CHCSS00147 Entry into Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care.
Fees And Funding
- Course fee: $5,000 fee-for-service training.
- Payment option: Instalments may be available on request. Contact the RTO for the current fee schedule and payment terms.
- Government funding: Government funding is not currently available.

How the Course will be Delivered
Work Placement Requirements (Minimum 280 Hours)
Learners must complete at least 280 hours of work in a regulated children’s education and care service in Australia (covering children aged 0-6 years).
Workplace Access & Safety Evidence
- Valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) if 18 years or older.
- Evidence of required vaccinations where requested by workplace provider.
- National Criminal Record Check (Police Check) as required.
- Internet access via computer or laptop.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
What is RPL? Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an assessment method that allows individuals to demonstrate their existing skills and knowledge by providing evidence from past experiences.
Can I apply for RPL? RPL is ideal for individuals who have substantial experience in an education and care setting. Emerge Training generally recommends at least five years of experience across a range of roles for those seeking RPL for a full qualification.
What evidence is required?
Competency Conversation: A Training and Development Officer evaluates your skills through structured discussion.
Practical Assessment: Demonstrating practical skills in a regulated service in Australia.
Portfolio: Documented evidence mapped against unit requirements.
Credit Transfer
Applies when you have already completed identical units as part of a previous qualification. Proof of completion via USI transcript or Statement of Attainment grants credit directly.
Unique Student Identifier (USI)
It’s a regulatory requirement that if you’re studying nationally recognised training in Australia from 1 January 2015, you will be required to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI). Create your USI at www.usi.gov.au.
